QLD: Another 2500 motorists booked on Queensland roads

Queensland remains fatality free on the roads since the Easter period began on Thursday but
almost 5,000 motorists have been booked for traffic offences.

Of those, 2,572 ran foul of the law yesterday, and all but 200 of them face speeding fines.

Police have charged 77 motorists for drink-driving while 122 have been booked for not
wearing seatbelts.

A spokesman says police are encouraged by the low detection rate of drink drivers, with 151
drivers charged after more than 23,000 breath tests in the past 48 hours.
